“No matter how trapped you are, your imagination helps you escape, “A little drop of dreams can go so far.” Sometimes there is a reason you procrastinate a post. Since holding back on a band like Brick + Mortar is an unthinkable act, I am going to use the launch of their EP Bangs tonight as my excuse. My first taste of this New Jersey duo was a stripped back version of a song called heatstroke. The abrasive vocals and […]
A few days ago Daughter released their music video for the song Youth. While it is disappointingly straightforward it fits perfectly with the song. The stark contrasts add to the heaviness of the lyrics. In all fairness the beauty of the song is not lost. I’m not sure how often I would go back to this video though. Thoughts anyone?
“Setting fire to our insides, for fun.” The long wait for the london trio, Daughter to release their newest album is finally over. Post the success of Youth, Smother and a number of fabulous singles this album has a lot of expectations to live up to and it has. Imagine yourself at the mad hatters tea party. You’ve always wanted to be at one but you’re not quite sure what is happening. You are enjoying yourself though and some bit of you realises this probably might make you a little crazy. Their music is a bizarre mix of an old circus band combined with soft vocals and the most […]

The first time I listened to its raw, powerful and dramatic sound the album left me exhausted. Every now and then I would go back to it for a kick-start to the day or a significant decision I was about to make in my otherwise […]
Sunday calls for looking through watchlistentell, Soul Kitchen sessions and of course Burberry Acoustic (my current obsession). The sun is out, my garden is looking gorgeous and watson is making plans for brunch. Patch William is a london based band with a sound that sort of balances between The XX and Nick Drake/bob dylan/Jimi Hendrix maybe? Honestly, it’s sunday so I’m going to spare you the analysis and give you the dreamy buzz a day like this needs. Patch William […]
